Steven M. Byrne was born and raised in South Louisville. He graduated from WKU and then the University of Louisville School of Dentistry in 1986. He began practicing in La Grange in 1987, where he and wife Merry raised their family. They have two boys, Jake and Zachary. Jake, a 2009 graduate of WKU and the University of Kentucky College of Medicine in 2013, is a practicing psychiatrist in Chicago, IL. Zachary, a 2011 graduate of WKU and the University of Louisville School of Dentistry in 2017, joined Byrne Family Dentistry after graduation. Zachary is married to his wife, Amy, and they have a son named Beau.

Together, Dr. Steve and Dr. Zach are committed to serving their community, which Byrne Family Dentistry has done for more than 30 years. Both are members of the American Dental Association, Kentucky Dental Association, and Louisville Dental Society.
